Unsatisfied with your order? If you are not happy with what you received, we are here to assist you with a return or exchange. Email us at info@manhattanreeds.com and let us know the problem. The timeframe to initiate a return or exchange request may vary depending on the item, so please refer to the tables below for detailed information.

Reeds (return or exchange):

While we hope that you will be pleased with the reeds you receive, we understand that every oboist is unique, with different backgrounds, embouchures, and personal sound preferences. You are always welcome to provide feedback on the reeds you received via email or send us an email after your order about your reed preferences and we will make every effort to accommodate your requests in your future orders.

To ensure secure shipment, we use strong triple layered cardboard shipping boxes and pack them with stuffing in order to ensure least amount of movement possible. We have also tape each coffin shut to prevent any accidental opening during transit. If however, for some reason your reed arrives damaged, please refrain from opening the tape wrap on the coffin and instead, take a detailed photos of the damage and send them to us via email.

For both reed returns and exchanges, please carefully pack and pad the original reed in the original cardboard box and coffin it came in, ensuring that all old labels have been removed. Please tape the coffin securely to prevent any opening during transit. You are responsible for securely and safely packaging the reed(s). If the reed(s) are damaged due to inadequate packing, you will be held responsible for the damages. Additionally, if the reed(s) show signs of heavy usage, scraping, or any form of manipulation, they will not be eligible for an exchange or refund, and the reed(s) will not be returned to you.

In most cases, we require the original reed(s) to be returned to our shop before issuing a refund or sending a replacement reed.

We will send you a shipping label to print, however, the return shipping is your responsibility and will be taken out of your refund.

If you do not have a printer, you can take the package to any USPS location to pay for the shipping yourself. Please make sure to get a tracking number! You will be issued a full refund (full refund issued, no shipping costs subtracted from the refund).

​Your replacement reed(s) will be pushed up to #1 on our waiting list and sent out as soon as possible.

Emergency reeds are an exception to the above policy and are non-refundable for any reason due to the after-hours time and care that went into making this reed. As there is no way to control the speed after we ship it out, we also do not give refunds on emergency reeds due to delays in UPS. Thank you for your understanding.

All other physical items (return or exchange)

All other physical items are eligible for return in it's original new, unopened, and unused state. Cane and other used items final sale and are not eligible for a return or exchange.

In most cases, we must have the original item(s) back in our shop before sending out a refund or a replacement.

All returns and exchanges are handled in a civil manner in accordance with our policies written here and in our FAQ. We do not tolerate chargebacks, opening cases with Paypal, or threats, and we reserve the right to ban, terminate, or refuse service to anyone who decides to do so.
